Utah man sentenced to prison for Easter Sunday shooting death and robbery

A man who pleaded guilty to the Easter Sunday shooting death and robbery of 46-year-old Matthew Earl Holt near the Jordan River Parkway last year has been sentenced to prison of up to life.Jeffery Ray Shepherd, 36, of Tooele, told the court Tuesday, “I’m truly sorry for what happened and all the pain and suffering I’ve caused.”The victim’s mother, Maxine Holt, said of losing her only son: “The grief is absolutely crushing. I cannot bear it. My heart is broken.
