Replacement picked for Utah lawmaker who resigned amid prostitution controversy
St. George • Southern Utah Republicans have chosen an attorney from a prominent local family to replace a lawmaker who resigned amid reports he met a prostitute in taxpayer-funded hotel rooms.The Spectrum newspaper in St. George reports Travis Seegmiller won an eight-way race at an emergency Washington County Republican meeting on Monday.Seegmiller is also an associate professor and longtime political consultant who worked for Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign.
