Letter: Don’t we remember Sophie’s Choice?
As I continue to follow the tragedy on the Mexican border, motivated by Republican politicians, I find myself reminded of the novel by William Styron wherein, in World War II, a Polish woman is interned in a Nazi concentration camp with her two young children and has to decide which child would be gassed while the other would be able to live in the camp.This analogy may seem extreme to some, but try to imagine, if you will, regardless of the situation, a family that is torn apart, with children
