Commentary: Celebrating “Equal Pay Day” is a worthy crusade. Or is it?

This year’s Equal Pay Day fell on April 12. On this day we solemnly remind ourselves that this is how long a woman would have to work, starting on Jan. 1, 2017, to finally earn as much money as all the men, who closed out their 2017 earnings on Dec. 31, 2017. Then we just as solemnly foreswear ourselves to continue the fight for equal pay until women in our great nation earn as much as men by the end of each year.It’s a huge injustice and a worthy crusade.
