Wildfire Threatens Popular Massachusetts Ski Area

A wildfire is burning outside Ski Butternut, a small, 100-acre ski area with ten lifts in the Southwest corner of Massachusetts, near Great Barrington.The ski area is actively coordinating with local firefighting efforts and has turned on its snowguns to saturate the ground with water. Firefighters have used helicopters to scoop water from Ski Butternut's snowmaking pond in an attempt to contain the blaze.
