Colorado Snowboarder Killed In Avalanche

A snowboarder was caught and killed in an avalanche near Silverton, Colorado on February 20th. According to preliminary reports from CAIC, a skier and a snowboarder were touring in the Middle Fork of Mineral Creek drainage of the San Juan Mountains. The pair were skiing a feature called The Nose when the avalanche occurred. A crown broke on a northeast facing slope near treeline. The skier was able to escape moving debris but the snowboarder was caught and buried. Staff from a nea
