Comeback stalled as Saints release OT Newton

New Orleans released veteran offensive tackle Derek Newton, who was attempting a comeback from a devastating injury. Newton, signed by the Saints two weeks ago, tore both patellar tendons in a game in 2016, when he was playing for the Texans.
