Yankees defeat Betances in arbitration case

An arbitration panel has determined that Dellin Betances should earn $3 million this season, rather than the $5 million he asked for, and Yankees president Randy Levine said that the higher request "had no bearings in reality," while making the pitcher "a victim of an attempt to change the marketplace in baseball."
