Mets Release Jared Oliva

The Mets have released outfielder Jared Oliva, according to his transactions page at MLB.com. The club designated him for assignment a few days ago. Oliva was on the minor league injured list at the time and therefore was not eligible to be placed on outright waivers. That left the Mets to either trade him or release him.
