Maple Leafs acquire negotiation rights to Tanev

With less than two days before the NHL free agency signing period opens, the Toronto Maple Leafs got a jump on the open market, acquiring the signing rights to coveted defenseman Chris Tanev, 34, in a trade with the Dallas Stars on Saturday afternoon.
