Monroe inmate died after jail failed to provide him with cancer treatment for over a year, report finds

An ombuds report states an Monroe prison inmate was alerted to a lump in his breast in March 2018 but that it wasn't looked at by Department of Corrections medical officials for six months, when doctors identified an invasive cancer and recommended immediate surgery, chemotherapy and diagnostic tests. The report said months passed while nothing was done.
