Vermont storm knocks out power for 55,000 homes

Green Mountain Power and Vermont Electric Co-op are reporting widespread outages after an 80 mile an hour windstorm swept through the state last night.VEC reported that about 10,000 homes in its service area are without power. More than 45,000 homes and businesses served by Green Mountain Power are out of electricity.Many roads were also closed on Monday morning, due to downed trees and power lines.
