Fentanyl takes a deadly toll on Vermont
When Eric Bessette tried fentanyl three years ago, he was most struck by the flavor — or lack thereof.
“I clearly remember the stuff had no taste to it,” he recently recalled.
Heroin is often slightly off-white, he said. A dab on the tongue leaves a bitter, medicinal taste. But fentanyl — a synthetic opioid that can be 50 to 100 times more potent than heroin — was pure white, odorless and flavorless.
