Utah House rejects proposal for doctor to train in suicide prevention

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah lawmakers rejected a proposal Friday that would have required primary care doctors to take two hours of suicide prevention training."Our physicians are the front lines of mental health right now, unfortunately," said Rep. Justin Fawson, R-North Ogden, the sponsor of HB87. "We don't have enough mental health providers in the state. That is a reality."The bill, which the House voted down 42-27, would have allowed doctors to opt out of the training if they could show tha
