Two killed in Nephi skydiving accident when parachute fails to open

NEPHITwo skydivers were killed Thursday when their parachute failed during a tandem jump over the Nephi Municipal Airport, according to the Nephi Police Department.
Serena Whelchel, 35, a skydiving instructor from California, and Wendi-Kay Gabaldon, 41, of Tooele, were killed after jumping about 6:30 p.m. The jump was organized through Sky Dive the Wasatch.
