Senate panel approves Utah Supreme Court nominee

SALT LAKE CITY — Third District Judge Paige Peterson will go before the state Senate on Wednesday for a vote to fill a vacancy on the Utah Supreme Court.
The Senate Judicial Confirmation Committee unanimously approved Peterson on Monday during a short hearing. Gov. Gary Herbert nominated her to the post last month. She would replace retiring Justice Christine Durham.
Peterson, a native of Emery County, earned a political science degree from the University of Utah and law degree from Yale.
