Salt Lake County estimates 37 percent election turnout

SALT LAKE CITY — Voter turnout reached an estimated 37 percent in Salt Lake County early Tuesday evening, a boost to the previous estimate of 28 percent.
County Clerk Sherrie Swensen remained optimistic that the county would hit 40 percent voter turnout.
"The ballots were coming in so slowly at the end of last week," Swensen said. "People just weren't returning their ballots."
