Man sentenced for punching officer at Elizabeth Smart event

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — An 80-year-old man convicted of battery for punching a police officer who stopped him from approaching kidnapping survivor Elizabeth Smart with a knife at an Indiana book signing has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.Claude Hudson told a judge on Thursday that he didn't think he should be locked up at all, according to the Tribune-Star.A jury convicted Hudson in June of felony battery.
