Couple charged in brutal hammer, crowbar attack

SALT LAKE CITY — A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a woman and her boyfriend accused of beating the woman's mother and stepfather with a sledgehammer and crowbar and then stealing a large bag of money.
Samantha Lee Harward, 27, of Santaquin, and Kelvin Edward Tate, 28, of Lehi, were charged last month in 3rd District Court with aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony; two counts of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony; and theft, a second-degree felony.
