Contractor dies when trench caves in

SANDY — A contractor has died after a dirt wall collapsed on him while he was in a trench.
The 42-year-old worker was partially buried when heavy equipment fell on him about 2 p.m. on Friday, the Unified Police Department reported.
The man, whose name has not been released, was working in the Granite Ridge neighborhood in Sandy at the time of the accident, Unified police said via Twitter.
