Committee puts bill banning cellphone use in school zones on hold
SALT LAKE CITY — Parents will still be able to make phone calls in the car when they pick up their kids from school.Rep. Dixon Pitcher, R-Ogden, presented HB220 to the House Transportation Committee on Friday to ban the physical use of cellphones by a driver in a reduced-speed zone."We ask that if you are in a school zone that you do not use a handheld device," he said.Pitcher specified that his his bill was "very narrowly" focused on school zones.Rep.
