With a withered state party, Alabama Democrats on their own

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Alabama Democrats are rolling into the 2018 election with renewed enthusiasm. But candidates have largely been on their own in getting their message out ahead of the Nov. 6 election.
Once the dominant party of the state, the Alabama Democratic Party is a shell of its former self. The party has little staff to help with campaign activities such as advertising and phone banks and has been dormant for months at a time on social media.
