Whipple Observatory scientists inaugurate new gamma-ray telescope
TUCSON – A new telescope, the first of its kind, was inaugurated Thursday at the Whipple Observatory in Amado.
The telescope, known as the Prototype Schwarzchild-Couder Telescope, will astronomers to detect objects millions of light years away.
“Ultimately, the SCT is designed to improve CTA’s ability to detect very-high-energy gamma-ray sources, which may also be sources of neutrinos and gravitational waves,” said Professor Vladimir Vassiliev, principal investigator
