US says it recently paid cash-strapped UN $180 million
UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The United States says it recently paid the United Nations $180 million toward its annual dues, which should help ease the U.N.’s worst cash crisis in nearly a decade.
U.S. deputy ambassador Cherith Norman Chalet said the United States expects to make another payment of $96 million within the next few weeks.
She told the General Assembly’s budget committee Friday that the U.S. anticipates making “further contributions in November as well.”
