TUSD president selection prompts district policy concern

TUCSON – Tucson Unified School District Governing Board has named a new president.
The board voted on the position Tuesday, selecting Dr. Mark Stegeman as the president for 2019. Stegeman was chosen on a 3-2 vote, with board members Kristel Foster and Adelita Grijalva voting in opposition.
Stegeman will serve the position for a year. However, Foster said the nomination was made on a nonbinding agreement that will allow the board to revisit the position in six months.
