Truck driver sentenced in marijuana smuggling case

TUCSON – A truck driver who was charged with smuggling more than six tons of marijuana from Mexico into Arizona has been sentenced to ten years in federal prison.
Investigators say Enrique Valencia-Lopez was stopped at the Mariposa Port of Entry in Nogales in May 2017, when U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found hundreds of wrapped bundles of marijuana totaling more than 13,000 pounds in the commercial tractor-trailer he drove into Arizona.
