Trial in 9/11 case at Guantanamo gets early 2021 start date

WASHINGTON (AP) — There is a start date for the war crimes trial of five men held at the Guantanamo Bay prison on charges of planning and aiding the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
A military judge says the death-penalty case will start Jan. 11, 2021. Air Force Col. Shane Cohen set the date in a scheduling order issued Friday. The order also lays out a number of other deadlines in a case that has been bogged down in pretrial litigation since the five defendants were arraigned in May 2012.
