Tackling gun violence in Arizona since 2011 Tucson shooting
PHOENIX- On January 8, 2011, Tucson experienced a mass shooting when a gunman opened fire at a U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords Congress On Your Corner event, killing six people and injuring others.
Following the shooting, the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission issued a National Instant Criminal Background Check System Task Force.
This force is a national computerized system that checks available records on people who may be disqualified from receiving firearms.
