Shutdown delays immigration cases, hearings for asylum seekers

TUCSON — Asylum seekers and others fighting the immigration system who hope to get their day in court are being affected by the partial government shutdown.
Immigration court is closed as a result of the shutdown. At the moment, many of immigration attorney Mo Goldman’s clients’ futures are in limbo.
“The majority of our clients want to have their day in court and so this does nothing more than delay what could be an important hearing for them,” Goldman said.
