Pima County launches 911 texting system

TUCSON (KVOA) - "Call if you can. Text if you can't." Pima County launched a911 texting system on Thursday.
The system allows people in need of emergency services to reach a dispatcher via text when calling is not an option.Pima County Sheriff's Department says traditional 911 voice calls are still preferred. However, texting can help those who are unable to speak due to an emergency, or people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech-disabled.
