New Arizona senators sworn into office

TUCSON – Democrat Kyrsten Sinema and Republican Martha McSally are Arizona’s new senators. Both women were sworn in Thursday morning in Washington D.C.
In November, McSally lost the senate race to Sinema. They were fighting for Arizona’s other Senate seat, which opened after Sen. Jeff Flake chose not to seek re-election.
Sinema is a three-term congresswoman and won the Senate seat in November. She is also Arizona’s first Democratic U.S. senator since 1994.
