Man convicted in 2017 fatal stabbing gets natural-life sentence

TUCSON – The man arrested for a 2017 fatal stabbing on the southwest side was sentenced to natural life in prison on Thursday morning.
On Jan. 9, 2017, Pima County Sheriff’s Department found Damion Philipps dead in a home in the 2800 block of South Sheila Avenue, near Bopp and Kinney Roads. Deputies at the scene said a woman also suffered stab wounds in connection to the incident.
After further investigation, PCSD identified James Reaves as the primary suspect of the murder.
