Maine trips Rhode Island 38-36 on Doak’s last-play FG

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) — Kenny Doak kicked a 39-yard field goal as time expired to lift Maine to a wild 38-36 win over Rhode Island on Saturday, the Black Bears’ 12th straight in the 97-game series that dates to 1911.
The Black Bears (4-2, 3-0 Colonial Athletic Association) went 54 yards in nine plays after getting the ball on their 25 with 51 seconds to play. Chris Ferguson, who threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third, was 5 of 7 for 55 yards.
