Hurricane Barbara begins to weaken far out in Pacific

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Powerful Hurricane Barbara began to weaken Wednesday over the open Pacific, as its maximum sustained winds dipped to 145 mph (230 kph) from a peak of 155 mph (250 kph).
The U.S. National Hurricane Center said the storm was centered about 1,925 miles (3,095 kilometers) east of Hilo, Hawaii, and was moving to the west-northwest at 10 mph (17 kph).
The forecast track would carry it roughly in the direction of Hawaii, but the storm was forecast to weaken to a depression well
