France: Macron ousts security chief after police protests

PARIS (AP) — French President Emmanuel Macron has ousted his interior minister following protests against police brutality. It’s part of a government shakeup aimed at shifting the government’s focus to post-virus economic recovery in the last two years of Macron’s term. The interior minister had come under fire amid widespread French protests against racial injustice and police brutality spurred by the death of George Floyd in the United States.
