Ex-Khmer Rouge jailer hospitalized in serious condition

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (AP) — A former prison chief for Cambodia’s Khmer Rouge regime who has been sentenced to life in prison has been hospitalized with serious respiratory problems.
The 76-year-old was the first among the Khmer Rouge leaders to be convicted and sentenced to life in prison by a U.N.-backed tribunal in 2012. He has been serving his sentence in Cambodia’s Kandal province.
