Draghi nets wide support to lead Italian government, for now
ROME (AP) — Former European bank chief Mario Draghi has secured backing from nearly every political party as he continued work to form Italy’s next government. Draghi could tell the Italian president as soon as Wednesday afternoon that he has succeeded in putting together a viable government to lead Italy through the health and economic crises of the virus pandemic. Former Premier Silvio Berlusconi said Tuesday that his center-right Forza Italia would support a Draghi-led government.
