Davis, Alonso lead new Mets past Nats 11-8 for 2-0 start

WASHINGTON (AP) — J.D. Davis delivered a tiebreaking two-run single in the eighth inning and rookie Pete Alonso contributed three hits and two RBIs as the new-look New York Mets improved to 2-0 with an 11-8 victory over the Washington Nationals on Saturday.
As chants of “Let’s go, Mets!” or “Where is Harper?” emanated from groups of New York fans in the stands, the Nationals fell to 0-2 without former slugger Bryce Harper.
