Cubs orphaned after mother struck by vehicle on SR 77

TUCSON – Three cubs are being cared for after Arizona Game and Fish Department received a report that their mother was struck and killed by a vehicle on State Road 77 early Monday morning.
According to AZGFD, the mother of the cubs likely was killed instantly in the accident. Tucson and Mesa crews took custody of the cubs and currently is transferring the baby bears to the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center in Scottsdale.
