Border Patrol agent charged with smuggling cocaine

TUCSON – A United State Border Patrol agent is facing federal charges, after he was accused of conspiracy to smuggle cocaine.
According to court documents, Ramon Antonio Monreal Rodriguez, 32, exchanged nearly $334,000 cash for 41 kilograms of cocaine near the San Miguel gate, in the early morning hours of September 18.
Investigators said four days later, on September 22, Monreal-Rodriguez transferred $317,000 to a smuggler at the border.
