Active seniors maintain memory better than sedentary peers.
Older people may be able to maintain their memory by moving more, even if they already have some brain deterioration.
Researchers studied more than 450 older adults starting in 1997 and followed them until they died. Overall, people without dementia were more physically active. But those who exercised their bodies more on a daily basis had better thinking and memory, compared to those who were not active.
