William H. Winkle, 1934-2017: ‘Firefighter’s chief’ honored for bravery

William H. Winkle, 82, a Toledo firefighter for 27 years who capped his career as chief after receiving honors for bravery and setting up a hazardous-material response unit, died Thursday in his Springfield Township home.
