■ Lake Erie: As the calendar creeps closer to fall, yellow perch fishing on the big water traditionally improves. The experts at Netcraft report that phenomenon is taking place once again, with the perch anglers doing better with each week that passes. The hot spots the folks at Netcraft are recommending are the waters around the Toledo intake and the Toledo harbor light, plus northwest of Rattlesnake Island and southwest of Green Island.
