Students discover science lessons in lakeside marshes

The plan is to take 500 fifth graders into the marsh, give them a concentrated dose of science, ecology, biology, and conservation, then hope mom and dad understand the muddy shoes and the sudden urge to turn off SpongeBob and watch Animal Planet.
