Steam plant smokestacks removed

Construction crews remove the towers from the old Toledo Edison steam plant Tuesday. ProMedica is removing the brick columns supporting the steel stacks because they are structurally unsound. The 220-foot smokestacks will be replaced with shorter steel replicas. The project is part of ProMedica’s plan to create a new downtown headquarters.
