Offensive team names a local issue

Michigan officials have been trying to get public schools to abandon Native American team nicknames. State superintendent Brian Whiston even asked Attorney General Bill Schuette whether the superintendent could withhold funding from districts that kept the names. Mr. Schuette said he could not.
