This holiday season, with the world more dangerous and the country more divided politically than ever, The Blade looks back to a quieter time in the sleepy river town of Texas, Ohio. Earl W. North (1909-1989) of Haskins, Ohio, loved to paint along the Maumee River in all seasons. On a cold, sunny day in 1938, he captured Sam Grater’s small cottage under an old oak still clinging to some of its autumn leaves. From all of us at The Blade
