Hometown heroes

The year was 1945, and patriotism was at an all-time high. So it came as no surprise that on August 18 thousands of spectators lined flag-bedecked Toledo city streets for a motor car procession to honor three local war heroes. Following the parade, 5,000 people attended a civic celebration at the Toledo Zoological Park amphitheater.
