HCR ManorCare pays portion of back rent

HCR ManorCare Inc. has paid $23 million of the nearly $80 million it owes in back rent to its landlord, financial filings show. However, the Toledo-based nursing home operator remains in default and could be facing the prospect of going into receivership.
