Fill-in state superintendent will be Lonny Rivera, former head of Oregon school district

Lonny Rivera, the former superintendent of the Oregon schools near Toledo, has a clear path to becoming the interim state superintendent. That makes Rivera unopposed when the board votes Tuesday on who will replace State Superintendent Richard Ross when he retires at the end of the year while the board seeks a permanent replacement.
